Inpatients at the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute are cared for by a team of highly specialized healthcare professionals covering a total of 193 beds. The majority of our inpatients have suffered stroke, traumatic brain injury, general musculoskeletal injuries and spinal cord injury, all of which could lead to theme experiencing chronic pain.
All inpatients are referred for admittance either by an acute care facility, such as Hamad General Hospital, the Outpatient Department, another Hamad Medical Corporation facility or service, Primary Health Care Corporation or a private health clinic.
The Inpatient Rehabilitation Program is a patient centered care model focused on the patient to maximize his or her functional potential. It provides patients with an active program of care and access to a core multidisciplinary care team (PM&R physician, nursing, therapy services, etc.) as well as other specialized clinical services. Medical coverage is also available 24 hours a day (on-call and onsite).
A specialized and dedicated team provides a comprehensive and individualized plan of care using an interdisciplinary team approach. The treatment plan developed is built on an understanding of the patient’s diagnosis and prognosis based on the relationship between the injury, cognitive function and behavior.
Each team works closely with patients and their family/caregiver to address specific needs and goals that strive to improve functional performance and endurance, independence and self-confidence.
The rehabilitation program consists of but is not limited to one-on-one therapy, supervised therapy and group therapy along with patient and family education and training as required.
