Step by Step Process

The processes outlined below detail the necessary steps for applying for a transfer or promotion within HMC’s nursing and midwifery service.

Kindly note that in order to qualify for a transfer or promotion you must:
  • Have your supervisor’s permission.
  • Fully meet the minimum qualifications for the ‘new’ post.
  • Have been employed in your current post for more than 12 months.

Step-by-Step Process for Applying for a Transfer

Step 1

  • Review internal job vacancies on HMC's intranet http://internalvacancies.hmc.org.qa/en/index.aspx.
  • Ensure your experience and qualifications match the essential criteria.

Step 2

  • Download and complete the ‘Request for Employee Transfer’ form from the ‘forms’ section of the HR Department’s intranet page http://intranet/hr_intranet_website/mission.htm.

Step 3

  • Ensure the form is completed in full; obtain all required signatures and attach all required documents and submit to your immediate supervisor or department head.

Step-by-Step Process for Applying for a Promotion

Step 1

  • Review internal job vacancies on HMC's intranet http://internalvacancies.hmc.org.qa/en/index.aspx.
  • Ensure your experience and qualifications match the essential criteria.

Step 2

  • Download and complete the ‘Application for Promotion (Nursing/Non-Medical Staff Under Personnel Bylaw)’ form from the ‘forms’ section of the HR Department’s intranet page http://intranet/hr_intranet_website/mission.htm.

Step 3

  • Prepare all necessary documentation, as listed on the application form:

    • Updated CV
    • Last two (2) annual performance evaluations
    • Staff education report (available from your Head Nurse)
    • Recommendation letter from your immediate supervisor and approved by the department head
    • Criteria for promotion*
    • Promotion interview sheet*
    • Updated department organizational structure*
    • Updated manpower budget with applicable post highlighted (provided by your HR Business Partner)
    • A copy of the job advertisement, or the job advertisement reference number
    • If applicable, a completed ‘Request for Employee Transfer’ form from the ‘forms’ section of the HR Department’s intranet page
    • If applicable, a listing of any new verified qualification/training certificates and/or licenses

*Provided by the Nursing Administration Office of the Facility/Hospital

Step 4

  • Ensure form(s) are completed in full; obtain all required signatures and attach all required documents and submit to your immediate supervisor or department head.

Your immediate supervisor or department head will send the required documentation to your Facility’s/Hospital’s HR Business Partner. He/She will review your application. If incomplete, the files will be returned to your immediate supervisor or department head. If complete, the HR Business Partner will sign and forward the completed file to the HR Compensation and Benefits Department/Promotions and Transfer section. The HR Business Partner will liaise directly with the HR Department on your behalf.
