Prof. Richard Gray

Assistant Executive Director of Research Corporate Nursing

Prof. Richard Gray had over 20 years of experience working in health research, policy and practice. Conducting research to better understand and improve patient adherence to treatment has been a major focus of his work. He has conducted a number of world first studies that have tested adherence interventions across a range of long-term conditions including schizophrenia and hypertension. His work is primarily based on the observation that enhancing adherence requires interventions that challenge patients’ treatment beliefs. His work on multi-morbidity is a second major research theme. Significantly poorer physical health, for example, affects virtually every patient with a mental health problem. His group has developed and tested a range of interventions focused on enhancing the health of people living with multi-morbidity. Prof. Gray has published over 100 peer reviewed scientific papers (his current h-index is 24, 13 years after his PhD).
