AEDON Nursing Performance

Gina Michelle Butler joined the HMC Corporate Nursing team in June 2014 as the AEDON Nursing Performance.

Gina has a diversity of nursing experience. Having commenced her clinical career in a major teaching hospital, and working as a registered nurse in operating rooms for several years, Gina travelled to the rural and remote areas of Australia. She then worked as a nurse, in a variety of health care settings and roles from traditional hospital based nursing roles, to community development roles focused on working with rural and remote communities to develop community and aged care services. Gina then moved into community and primary health service management roles. At one stage Gina was the rural and remote health service manager for community care across the vast Western Australian Goldfields and Wheat belt area (across a distance of a 1500km).

Gina then moved into executive management with a focus on health systems development, clinical governance and quality improvement. Prior to joining HMC Gina was the statewide Nursing Director for Service Quality Improvement within the Tasmanian Department of Health and Human Services. The primary focus of this role was to monitor and support health service quality improvement across the Tasmanian health care system. Gina has a Bachelor’s of Health Science – Nursing, and post graduate qualifications in Business Management.  She is also a graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Gina has also served on the Nursing Performance Standards Committee of (the former) Tasmanian Nurses Board, and as the state representative on various national working groups, supporting the work of the Australian Commission of Safety and Quality in Health Care.
