About Nursing and Midwifery Research Department

The Nursing and Midwifery Research Department (NMRD) was established in 2019 under the leadership of Dr. Badriya Al Lenjawi, Executive Director of Nursing for Research. As Research was included as the 4th track in the Nursing and Midwifery Career Framework, the department led Research and Evidence Based Practiced and has become a focal link between hospital facilities, Medical Research Department and Academic Health System.

 NMRD provides academic and clinical health research support to increase the engagement of nurses and midwives working across HMC. The department also conducts research events, initiates research workshops and supports either group or one-on-one education, which serves as a valuable resource to a nurse researcher. Nurse/midwife researchers are guided to explore questions about their research hypothesis, complete literature reviews, determine study designs, determine quantitative or qualitative research methods, and observe research quality guideline compliance.

NMRD oversees, guides and lead research to support staff nurses and researchers that addresses barriers in start-up investigations and work with constraints within operating budget.  Its network helps connects, resource personnel, research infrastructure and expert teams under operational guidelines and parameters that provides support until publication. NMRD offers Research and Evidence Based Practice courses, and ABHATH online submission training that will surely benefit the nurses and midwives.
