What to expect during your appointment
Appointments will be made following an initial telephone triage and conversation with a trained emergency department nurse or physician via the dedicated number. All discussions and consultations are confidential and care is taken to ensure the safety of the victim.
During the initial phone triage, the team will be able to explain Qatar’s legal processes as it relates to sexual assault, including police reporting and forensic services, to inform the victim of their rights and address any security concerns.
Once the appointment is made, care is provided by a multidisciplinary team, consisting of members of emergency services and the sexual health team. Other specialists and mental health professionals will also be available as appropriate.
Services provided include treatment for any physical injuries as a result of the assault, testing for sexually transmitted diseases and HIV and the provision of appropriate early treatment such as antibiotics and emergency contraceptives, as well as any other treatment deemed necessary. Initial psychological support is available should it be desired by the victim.
