​Qatar participates in global celebration of World Oral Health Day

The Ministry of Public Health’s National Committee for Oral and Dental Health, in collaboration with the Hamad Medical Corporation and Primary Health Care Corporation, is using World Oral Health Day as the platform for an awareness campaign about the importance of oral and dental care. 

World Oral Health Day, marked annually on March 20, uses the theme of “Keep your mouth healthy”, to promote positive oral health habits and to enhance communication between dental services and prevention departments in various medical institutions in the country, in addition to targeting all community groups such as children, adolescents, and adults, the campaign also encourages people to eat a healthy, balanced diet, avoid excessive sugar and tobacco.

As World Down Syndrome Day falls on March 21, the Ministry of Public Health, together with HMC, also issued information about oral healthcare for children with Down Syndrome. The public awareness effort is designed to encourage children with Down syndrome and their families to adopt healthy and sound lifestyles from a young age and reduce the spread of caries.
