Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) dentistry services have united under one banner – the Hamad Dental Network – which will work to improve patient access to dental services.
The new Hamad Dental Network includes the specialist services offered at Rumailah Hospital as well as those offered at Al Wakra Hospital, Al Khor Hospital and the Cuban Hospital.
Professor Johan De Vries, Chair of Dentistry at HMC said:
The philosophy behind this is one system, multiple sites. By bringing all the dental services in our hospitals under one banner, the new Hamad Dental Network means we can combine efforts across HMC’s hospitals. This ensures that our patients are able to access specialist services closer to their homes.’
The Hamad Dental Network is the latest step in the implementation of HMC’s new, innovative model of care which will bring more specialist services to our community hospitals.
Professor De Vries:
This means patients will not have to travel to Doha except if they need highly complex care.’
This model has been successfully tested through HMC’s women’s health services network whereby the most difficult cases are treated at Women’s Hospital while related specialist services are brought to patients in the outlying communities.
Professor De Vries added:
The Network will ensure quality and high standards of care for our dental patients across the hospitals in addition to reflecting our strategic direction. The core of the Network will be to take responsibility for professional leadership encompassing standards of care and quality as well as pathways for patients accessing dental care.’
HMC continues to add more specialist services in the field of dentistry including a recent new clinic catering to patients with special needs.
Professor De Vries explained:
HMC’s dental services see more than 120,000 patient visits each year which makes our clinics amongst the busiest in our network. It is important for us that we continue to add new services that can make a real difference to the lives of our patients.’
