Opened in March 2014, the Interim Translational Research Institute located on the Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City campus provides ready access to basic, clinical and translational research.

Arranged over four floors and eight suites, the facility focuses on key priority areas stated in the Qatar National Health Strategy: cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular heart disease, genomics, neuroscience (stroke, mood disorders and epilepsy) and respiratory medicine.

The Institute focuses on research and biomedical discoveries in these areas to facilitate their practical application to the development of new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat disease. One of the principals in the Institute is to provide state-of-the-art core facilities for modern day translational research in proteomics, genomics, molecular imaging, HPLC/MS and flow cytometry, supervised by skilled scientists.

With cutting edge equipment, leading scientists and clinical researchers, activities at the Interim Translational Research Institute aim to create a platform that fosters the multi-directional and multi-disciplinary integration of basic and clinical research towards improved clinical practices that present the best treatment options for patients.
