The Psychiatry Department cares for adults, children and adolescent psychiatry patients with psychosomatic disorders. The department also accepts emergency psychiatry requirements working in collaboration with other medical and surgical departments.
The majority of patients are managed on an outpatient basis, but some patients who need hospitalization are transferred to the main Psychiatry Department at the Hamad General Hospital. Our Psychiatry Department has strong links with the main Psychiatry Department at HGH to provide optimum services for the management of patients.
Outpatient Clinic
For managing the newly referred patients from different primary health care centers in the north of the country and those referred from the different outpatient clinics in Al Khor Hospital.
Consultation Liaison Service
The consultants and specialists who are on-call carry out consultations for inpatients in all wards of Al Khor Hospital who present with some mental illness symptoms or develop them during hospitalization as well as those who already have diagnoses and are elected for treatment adjustment.
Emergency Services
A 24-hour psychiatry service is provided everyday within the Emergency Department.
Social Services
Social Service are provided throughout the hospital.
Psychology Services
These services are provided through a clinical psychologist who participates in diagnosing patients by using psychometric tests and is also involved in management by providing different types of psychological therapies.
