​The committee was created in November 2012 and is chaired by Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Qahtani, Program Director of the ENT Residency Training Program and the Chairman of the ENT Division. 

The committee meets at least quarterly and membership includes GME program directors, hospital administration and a medical education administrator. The committee submits regular reports to the DIO and GMEC to keep them informed on the current training resources at all training participating sites and to address urgent issues. 

The committee was created by the GME committee to help meet ACGME International LLC citations related to training resources and the teaching environment at HMC training sites. The committee is also responsible for overseeing and deploying the current training resources available for the GME residency training programs to meet ACGME International LLC accreditation requirements. This will include, but is not limited to, on-call rooms, teaching space, meeting rooms, parking spaces, food, access to computers, office space for the program director and coordinator and security.

The committee is intended to work towards three key objectives:
  • Governance – ensuring that there is oversight and scrutiny of all participating sites by conducting inspection site visits so that adequate training resources and a suitable teaching environment for residents and fellows are in place and available
  • Respond to citations – proactively responding to ACGME International LLC citations and developing action plans to resolve any challenges faced with the training programs to allow the residency programs to meet ACGME International LLC training standards
  • Advisory role – submitting progress reports to the GMEC including actions taken by committee members to address citations, findings and observations resulting from site visits, identifying challenges and deficient training resources at training sites and providing recommendations to overcome these challenges
