HMC Announces Regional Storyboard Exhibition and Competition for the 2014 Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare
The Forum to empower patient care improvement for healthcare professionals will be held at the Qatar National Convention Center in Doha from 25 to 27 April 2014.Doha, 29 January 2014:
Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Qatar’s principal public healthcare provider, announces the launch of a regional storyboard exhibition and competition to showcase achievements in quality and patient safety from the region.
This initiative will feature as part of the second Middle East Forum for Quality and Safety in Healthcare from 25 to 27 April 2014 in Doha, Qatar. The Forum, themed “Empowering Patient Care Improvement”, is the result of HMC’s continued collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), a leading innovator in health care improvement worldwide.
This is the leading healthcare quality improvement conference in the Middle East featuring IHI faculty and methodology. This year’s event will feature a quality improvement storyboard competition and exhibition designed to showcase the improvement journeys of regional organizations by demonstrating the approaches, results, challenges and lessons learned.
“We strongly believe that there is a huge benefit in sharing the culturally unique healthcare experiences gained in the Middle East. There is a wealth of knowledge and expertise in quality and patient safety initiatives developed to suit local requirements and we are excited to be able to provide a platform to showcase some of the best and most innovative ideas at our Forum,” said Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, Deputy Chief of Medical, Academic and Research Affairs, Medical Education. “It therefore gives me great pleasure to invite storyboard submissions from anyone in the Arab world who would like to share how their project has helped deliver patient care improvement in their organization.”
Nearly 3000 health care professionals from around the Middle East region will gather to share international best practice in healthcare quality improvement. Practicing physicians, nurses, quality leaders, health care administrators, executives, patient and family advisors, and students training to be health professionals will gain new insights on how the science of improvement can empower them to deliver patient care improvements.
“This Middle East Forum is all about learning what tools and methodologies have delivered results in other organizations. Participants will enter into dialogues with international healthcare experts to discuss how best these tools can be adapted to local requirements to deliver healthcare transformations that are right for local populations,” said Professor Michael Richmond, Chief of Medical, Academic and Research Affairs. “Over 30 different plenary sessions, workshops and lectures will provide a rich platform for inter-professional and multi-disciplinary knowledge exchange.”
Maureen Bisognano, IHI President and CEO will be among six inspiring keynote presentations that enable participants to learn how to determine and achieve patient safety goals; co-design improvement and transformation with patients and families; cultivate quality improvement leaders and harness the best ideas from real-life examples.

Doctors, nurses and allied health professionals attending this Forum are able to earn continuing healthcare education points. Storyboard proposal submissions need to be received online at
