Dr. Shrikant Bangdiwala, PhD, is a Professor of Biostatistics at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), and senior statistician at the UNC Injury Prevention Research Center. He has extensive experience with the design, conduct and analysis of multi-center clinical and community-based studies, as well as on studies of unintentional injury, road transport safety, child maltreatment and family violence. He has worked in the injury field since 1983, as a statistical advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO) Americas Regional Office.  He was chief statistician in the USA-based Longitudinal Studies of Child Abuse & Neglect (LongSCAN) and of the 6-country World Studies of Abuse in the Family Environment (WorldSAFE) cross-sectional study. He currently is an instructor at the Transportation Research and Injury Prevention Programme at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, Professor Extraordinarious at the Violence, Injury and Peace Research Unit (VIPRU) of the Institute for Social and Health Sciences of the University of South Africa, and he has taught in the Safety Promotion doctoral programme of the Division of Social Medicine at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm. He is also currently co-editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Injury Control and Safety Promotion.
