Professor Michel Marre

Professor Michel Marre is the current President of the Francophone Foundation for Diabetes Research and the past President of the French Society of Diabetes. He is Professor of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at the University of Denis Diderot-Paris 7. Until the end of 2013, he was Chair of Unit 695 of the French Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM), which was dedicated to the genetic determinants of Type 2 diabetes and its vascular complication.
Professor Marre’s primary interest is the cardiovascular complications of diabetes. He is an investigator on several international diabetes trials, including ADVANCE, ORIGIN and BEGIN. He has authored or co-authored more than 350 scientific articles and book chapters and received several awards for his distinguished work.
