Dr. Frederick A. Masoudi

Dr. Frederick A. Masoudi, MD, MSPH, Professor of Medicine, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Chief Science Officer and Management Board Chair, NCDR, is a general cardiologist and cardiovascular health outcomes investigator at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. He received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and served as a resident and chief resident in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He completed his fellowship in cardiology and received a Master’s in Science in Public Health at the University of Colorado. He is currently a Professor of Medicine with tenure at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
Dr. Masoudi is an expert in clinical registries, quality measurement, and outcomes research in cardiovascular diseases. He has published more than 240 peer-reviewed papers and has co-authored several national treatment guidelines and consensus statements. Much of his work has focused on the quality of care for heart failure and outcomes of patients with heart failure, acute coronary syndromes, or receiving implantable cardioverter defibrillator therapy in contemporary practice. He has also published on the topics of quality and safety of cardiovascular care; the effectiveness of therapy in community-based settings; cardiovascular disease in the elderly; the impact of comorbidity on treatment and outcomes, and patient reported outcomes in cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Masoudi is the Chief Science Officer and Management Board Chair of the American College of Cardiology’s National Cardiovascular Data Registries (NCDR), which comprises ten national cardiovascular quality programs. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the ACC. He has previously served as the Chair of the American Heart Association Scientific Council on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research; as an Associate Editor of Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes; and Chair of the ACC/American Heart Association Task Force on Performance Measures.
