Hamad Medical Corporation’s Annual Research Day 2016 is to be held on Wednesday, 7 December 2016 at the Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel.
The theme for the ARD 2016 is ‘Bridging the Gap between Research and Innovation in Patient Care’. Discussions will include strategy at the national level for research and innovation to build HMC’s research strength, harnessing opportunities for collaborations and introducing a culture of innovation throughout HMC, which will be translated into efficient patient care.
Highlights of the day:
As part of the program this year there will be a keynote panel discussion on the topic “Building Qatar’s Research and Innovation Ecosystem”. The esteemed panelists for this featured keynote session are:
- Dr. Hamad Al-Ibrahim, Executive Vice President of Qatar Foundation Research & Development
- Dr. Maher Hakim, Managing Director of Qatar Science & Technology Park
- Dr. Ena Wang, Division Chief of Translation Medicine, Sidra Medical & Research Center
The session will be moderated by Prof. Ibrahim Janahi, Executive Director of Research, Medical Research Center, HMC.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Mohammed Hammoudeh, Senior Consultant, Medicine department, HMC under the title “Medicine, Research & Innovation – HMC Outlook”
Another featured session will run under the title “Perspectives on Pharmaceutical Research and Practices”: An update on ongoing research from the College of Pharmacy, Qatar University. The invited speakers for this session are Dr. Fatima Mraiche (Pharmaceutical Sciences Section Chair); Dr. Maguy El Hajj (Clinical and Pharmacy Practice Chair)
Another important highlight for the ARD 2016 are the new awards for which applications were received and after careful peer review process, the best applicants will be chosen. The list of new awards are:

- Excellence in Clinical Research
- Excellence in Translational Research
- Excellence in Health Services Research
- Promising Young Researcher
- Promising Resident/Research Fellow

In addition we will have oral presentations and poster displays for which the below four awards will be handed out at the end of the event:
- Best Oral Presenter
- Best Poster Presenter – 1st award
- Best Poster Presenter – 2nd award
- Best Poster Presenter – 3rd award
As always, the ARD is expected to be an eventful social gathering of the participants to hear from some of the top R&D representatives of Qatar, to recap the highlights and to discuss possible partnerships. The day will focus on and benchmark the corporation’s research traditions and creative endeavors.
