Dimitri P. Mikhailidis
Dimitri P. Mikhailidis graduated from the University of London (BSc, MSc, MB,BS and MD) and is the former Academic Head, in the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, Royal Free Hospital campus, University College London Medical School, University College London (UCL), UK. He continues with academic duties after partial retirement. 

He also is a Visiting Professor, Univ. of Belgrade, Serbia, and at two universities in Saudi Arabia (King Saud Univ., Riyadh, King Khalid Univ., Abha). His clinical interest is vascular disease prevention, and his research interests are dyslipidaemias and thrombosis. He is a former Wellcome Trust fellow and has supervised 15 doctoral students (University of London). 

He is a former Vice-president, Section of Pathology, Royal Society of Medicine and current member of the Vascular Medicine Section council. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath), Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine (FFPM) and Fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology (FCP). He was a member of the executive council of the International Atherosclerosis Society (IAS) 2016-18. He is also a Foreign Member of the Slovenian Academy of Medicine and the Serbian Academy of Medicine.

He has 1,275 entries on PubMed and 30,506 citations listed in the Clarivate Web of Science index, Core Collection (H-index = 77). Cited by 17,759 publications where he is not an author. He is editor-in-chief of several journals including Current Medical Research and Opinion, Current Vascular Pharmacology, Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy and Angiology (impact factor up to 3.5). He has acted as referee for 108 medical journals. He is ranked as number 1 in the world in the field of lipid lowering drugs ( He is also listed among the top 1% most cited authors in Pharmacology and Toxicology on the Clarivate Web of Science.

He has participated in several guideline and international evaluation committees. He is a former member of the nucleus group for peripheral arterial disease, European Society of Cardiology. He is the lead for the Prevention Section of the European Society of Vascular Surgery Guidelines for the Management of Carotid Artery Disease, 2010. He has lectured in 52 countries.

He was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of St. Mark, the Grand Cross of the Order of St. Savva as well as the Gold Cross of the Merit Insignia of St. Savva (Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa) for services to the Greek community outside Greece. He holds Honorary Doctorates from all 7 Medical Schools in Greece.
