Overview

Objective

The purpose of this workshop is to train medical researchers in developing their research experiment. They will be trained to identify the appropriate research design in different situations. They will be shown the procedure for selecting the optimum sample size for specific power in their research experiment. They will be exposed to learning advanced statistical techniques like factorial design and developing logistic models for identifying the probable reasons for survival. The participants after attending the workshop will be able to develop their own experiment, write the research questions and be able to select the appropriate design and analyze their data by using the SPSS software.

Learning Output

The participants after attending the workshop shall be able to:
  • Develop their own research problem
  • Identify the research questions and find the gap in research
  • Understand the concept in hypothesis testing and the situations in which one, two and more groups tests should be used in medical research
  • Clean the data, test the assumptions and develop profile chart in their research experiment
  • Learn the procedure for determining the sample size for specific power in the experiment using t-test, ANOVA and sample surveys
  • Learn the step by step procedure in using the SPSS in solving different analysis
  • Explain the results generated in SPSS outputs in different analysis
  • Communicate the analysis as a biostatistician.
