Atchyuta Rama Raju Vegesna

Dr. Raju is Senior Consultant Anesthesiologist at Hamad Medical Corporation, Qatar.

He has more than 40 years of experience in anesthesia, having obtained his MD (Anesthesiology) from University of Madras in 1983. He too has to his credit Dip in Regional Anesthesia from Montpellier University obtained in 2013. He worked as Anesthesiologist at King Fahad Central Hospital, Gizan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for 9 years. He was heading the Department of Anesthesia and ICU at this place before joining Hamad Medical Corporation in 2001.  He has wide experience in various fields of anesthesia for trauma, orthopedic, general surgery, maxillofacial, pediatric, neurosurgery, vascular and obstetrics and gynecology. 

He is part of the Bariatric and Metabolic Section at HMC since its inception in 2012 and at present he is Senior Consultant and Anesthesia lead for Bariatric Anesthesia at Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital (AAH).

He has a number of publications in various anesthesia and medical journals. He was awarded Star of Excellence in 2014 for Clinical Practice. He is an ardent teacher and received Best Teacher Award for Anesthesia program. He too received Excellence in Teaching Preceptor Award (Anesthesia Clerkship) thrice from the Weill Cornell Medical College Qatar. He is a certified instructor for Airway Courses.
