Purpose:

This workshop aims to engage participants interactively in identifying operational risks at their facilities, providing recommendations/solutions, and prioritizing them during international events, disasters, and pandemic using their actual exposure, real experience and foreseen involvement as part of a healthcare environment.

Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the operational elements of the organization or facility.
  2. Learn the steps to assessing risk.
  3. Identify the hazard and their associated risk at the facility during international events, disasters and pandemic.
  4. Evaluate and recommend control measures and prepare for prevention of risk to affect operational elements.
  5. Identify the stakeholders who will be involved in planning.
  6. Plan how and to whom risks shall be communicated to.
  7. Identify the challenges and lessons learned in the exercise.

Course Structure/Contents

Lectures:

  • Identifying operational elements of the facility

Breakout sessions:

The group will be divided into five (5) and designate the team leader. They will identify the risk for the assigned operational element, share their experiences, identify foreseeable risk, provide, and agree on the recommendations and risk priorities. Each team will portray the role of being the Facilities Manager or decision maker in providing solution to the risk they may face during the mentioned events.
