Purpose of the Workshop
The purpose of this workshop is to provide trauma and emergency nurses with the current evidence and underpinning principles of best-practice nursing management for patient with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 in trauma and emergency settings.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this activity the learners will be able to:
- Correlate the latest evidence-based practice for patients with COVID-19 management to underpinning principles of trauma and emergency management as it relates to emergency, and trauma care.
- Apply the latest advanced life support updates in nursing care for patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 like illness, who are at risk of acute deterioration or cardiac arrest.
- Demonstrate understanding of knowledge, skills and practice required to receive suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patient with positive pressure ventilation in trauma and emergency settings.
- Confidently prioritize nursing actions based on latest evidence-based trauma guidelines when a complex range of trauma and emergency situations occur.
- Understand the different types of aerosol generating procedures and how to provide safe and confident nursing practice for patient with covid-19 during AGP.
- Discuss the importance of early prone position for patient with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 in trauma and emergency units.
