Sheena McCabe MSc. DipHep 
Emergency Preparedness Manager 

Sheena has over 20 years’ experience in Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Management working in both the public and private sectors. She has also extensive operational experience in responding to UK and overseas disasters. She has an MSc in Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management from Leicester University, UK.

In 2015 Sheena joined HMC as their Major Incident Program Manager responsible for the co-ordination, development and implementation of major incident and business continuity arrangements. During the course of her time in HMC she was responsible for leading a team in developing and delivering the first National Health Major Incident Exercise in Qatar. She introduced the Emergency Risk Management (ERM) process within HMC and led a team in designing and delivering the only ERM Training Course in Qatar.

Sheena’s involvement in emergency preparedness began in 1999 as a serving UK Police Officer. She joined Merseyside Police Force Operations Department and was responsible for preparedness and response to major incidents and pre-planned events within Merseyside, UK. 

Between 1992 and 2012, Sheena was a member of a UK UN registered Urban Search and Rescue organisations called The International Rescue Corps. During her time in the Corps, Sheena attended many overseas disasters, mainly earthquakes, and UK disasters in the capacity of a qualified Urban Search and Rescue Technician. 

In 2002, she became a Course Director at the UK Home Office Emergency Planning College and was responsible for designing and delivering courses in civil protection to both UK and overseas audiences. 

Between 2008 and 2013, Sheena joined the UK National Health Service (NHS) as an Emergency Preparedness Manager and worked for a number of Primary Care Trust (PTC) setting up their civil protection, training and exercise programmes.  With the Olympics looming. Sheena joined Tower Hamlets PCT in London and worked with other NHS partners to help prepare the NHS to manage the Olympics impact on its services. 

In 2014 Sheena joined University Hospital of North Staffordshire as their Emergency Preparedness Manager and responded to a number of major incidents.
