Datuk Dr Mohamed Alwi Bin Hj Abdul Rahman 
HOD Emergency Department Selayang Hospital 

Datuk Dr. Mohamed Alwi Bin Hj Abdulrahman works as an Emergency Medicine physician and Trauma Specialist, practicing at Hospital Selayang as the Head of its Emergency and Trauma Department. He has a Master’s in Emergency Medicine from USM, Kubang Kerian, Kelantan and post graduate training in Emergency Planning and Disaster Management from the University of Hertfordshire. He received his undergraduate medical training in India and specialized training in pre-hospital care from Ottawa Paramedic service in 2009. He has also received CBRNE training with American and Japanese first responder teams. Currently, he is planning a PhD study in Disaster Medicine with a special interest in CBRNE and Mass Casualty Incidence management.

In 2007, he was appointed as a trainer for the CBRN Canadian program for first responders in Malaysia. He has attended and presented papers at many international and national CBRN/disaster programs and humanitarian medicine conferences. He has also participated in many national and international humanitarian missions in South East Asia, Middle East and Africa and acted as a medical unit leader and trainer for international humanitarian missions. 

Dr. Abdulrahman has a lot of experience working in field hospitals and refugee camps in many countries after disasters such as the Indonesian and Sri Lankan tsunamis and the earthquake and radiation scare in Japan. He has also been involved in many health-related training activities such as training on basic and advances American disaster training, Hazmat, tactical medicine, hostage and kidnapping and wilderness training. He has also carried out a lot of humanitarian medical relief work with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society in Thailand, Egypt, New Zealand, Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Egypt.

He has written books, protocols and guidelines on Disaster Management in Malaysia and presented papers in many countries. He is the Pre-hospital Care Ambulance Service Coordinator and a consultant in Disaster Medicine for the Ministry of Health. He trains the Malaysian Royal Police Force, Th SEARCCT Foreign Ministry as well as the Malaysian Red Crescent in the field of Emergency and Disaster Medicine. His passion is to help people in need. 

Currently he is the Medical Coordinator for Foundations of Gugusan 1, Board of Director with the Malaysian Artist Foundation and with the Board of National Athletes and Sportsman Foundation (YAKEB), which assists veteran sportsmen. He also works with the Board of Studies at the University of Technology, Malaysia and is the Adjunct Professor, USM-KLE University in India and an invited Professor in Indonesia.
