Dr. Ian Beasley qualified in 1982 from London University. He won a scholarship to study Sports Medicine in London in 1986, and passed his diploma with merit a year later, starting as a football doctor the same year at Leyton Orient FC.
He has worked in all four professional football divisions in England as team physician, including at Chelsea, Fulham, Arsenal, West Ham, and Bournemouth of the EPL. He was national team doctor for England, and CMO for the English FA, attending two world cups, and two European championships. In 2012, he was appointed as a sports physician by Team GB for the London Olympics.
He was CMO for England and Great Britain Hockey for ten years, and attended Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and World Cups with the national squads.
Over the last 12 years, he has been Medical Adviser to the Royal Ballet Company London, as well as working with the English National Ballet School.
Until joining Aspetar, he was Senior Lecturer in Sport and Excise Medicine at Queen Mary College, London University, and clinical lead in SEM at Barts Health NHS Trust. He is still medical consultant to the global performance unit at Manchester City FC, and mentors medical staff at the clubs in the group.
He is a tutor for the pitch side emergency aid course at the English Football Association, and board member of The International Concussion and Head injury Research Foundation.
