Prof. Aruna is the Secretary General of the World Academic Council of Emergency Medicine 2017 and a visiting Professor of Emergency Medicine, Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna, India, the International Coordinator of World Collaborating Center for Acute Care, a Consultant Physician In charge of the Department of Emergency Medicine, MICU & Department of Medicine of District General Hospital, Gampaha and the Founder President, Critical Care Forum of Sri Lanka. He is also the 1st Chief examiner in MD (Emergency Medicine) – PGIM, University of Colombo, one of the key contributors in developing Accident and Emergency National Policy in Sri Lanka, the executive editor of The Sri Lankan Hospitalist (Official Journal of CCSFL). He is the first leader in introducing point of care sonography in Sri Lanka and the first leader who introduced the concept of modern A & E in 1999.
