
Dr. Angeliki Bistaraki, RN, BSc, MSc, PhD
Dr. Angeliki Bistaraki has two bachelor’s degrees in nursing and around 20 years of experience in the nursing field, mainly in operating theatres. Her MSc studies in Civil Emergency Management/Interprofessional Practice at City, University of London motivated her to change her professional focus from the nursing discipline to areas such as mass gatherings, disaster training, emergency management and partnerships.
In the beginning of 2017, she completed her PhD studies in Health Services Research at City, University of London. Her PhD thesis focused on the 2012 London Olympic Games to study interagency collaboration between public health and safety organizations.
Dr. Angeliki recently gained a scholarship as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Peloponnese carrying out similar research to her PhD study by looking at the Athens Authentic Marathon.
In recent years, she has developed a strong reputation and a global network of colleagues in the mass gatherings field. She is an invited member of the Virtual Interdisciplinary Advisory Group (VIAG) on Mass Gatherings (WHO), and a member of the Mass Gathering Special Interest Group of the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine (WADEM), recently leading the Mass Gathering Research Sub-Working Group.
