Prof. Francesco Mattace Raso

Francesco Mattace-Raso (1967) is Professor of Geriatrics at the Erasmus MC University Medical Center of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He chairs the division of Geriatric Medicine and is Principal Investigator Vascular Aging Science Center Erasmus MC. From 2010-2021 he has been the of the Head Postgraduate School of Geriatrics at the Erasmus MC University Medical Center of Rotterdam. Main research interest is to investigate the causes and consequences of age- related cardiometabolic changes: a model of aging which allows to investigate the complex biological process of senescence and the possible consequences on individual vitality. In this field, Francesco Mattace Raso has an international leading role, author of milestone studies and coauthors of guidelines and expert papers.

Francesco Mattace-Raso is recipient of 6 large EU projects and is Principal and/or Co-Investigator of clinical trials or scientific networks. Up to now Francesco Mattace-Raso has supervised 15 PhD candidates and more than 50 master theses at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, has written several book chapters and is author of>260 peer reviewed scientific publications (h 57).

Francesco Mattace-Raso is Associate Editor of Age and Ageing and member of the Editorial Board of Hypertension, BMC Geriatrics, American Journal of Hypertension, Clinical Interventions in Aging, Artery Research, Panminerva Medica.

Within the European Society of Geriatric Medicine Francesco is member of the Full Board and member of the SIG Cardiovascular Diseases and the SIG Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, he has served as member of Academic Board.
