Dr. Brijesh Sathian, MPH, PhD, FRSS, FCEA, is a post-doctoral research scientist and deputy chair for research in the geriatric and long-term care department of Rumailah Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation. He has 16 years of experience in clinical research and teaching. He is an adjunct professor at the Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education & Research and a visiting professor at Bournemouth University, UK.
He worked ten years as an Assistant Professor and clinical research lead in the Community Medicine Department at the Manipal College of Medical Sciences in Pokhara, Nepal, before joining HMC. He is also a visiting faculty at the School of Allied Health, Faculty of Health, Education, Medicine, and Social Care, Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford, United Kingdom; Inter University Centre for Disability Studies, MG University, India; Gulf Medical University, UAE; and the University of Washington, USA. He is also a PhD guide at JJTU University, India, and an MPH examiner at Gulf Medical University.
Dr. Sathian is a Consultant and Chartered Statistician of the Royal Statistical Society, UK, and he has served for more than five years as a Chartered Scientist of the Science Council, United Kingdom. He is a governing body member of several epidemiological and medical research associations and an editor of their journals. He is an editor of Frontiers in Medicine, Aging Neuroscience, Psychiatry, Pharmacology, Public Health, and Epidemiology. Dr. Sathian regularly participates as a resource person and organizing committee member in conferences, symposiums, workshops, and short courses covering epidemiology, research methodologies, and scientific writings.
He has guided more than 1,000 theses of MD/DM/MCh/PhD and research projects in terms of study design, literature review, proposal and manuscript writing, sample size calculations, data management, exploratory analysis, analytical analysis, and interpretation of the results.
He has published several books, patents, research projects, and more than 300 research papers in high-impact journals, including Lancet, JAMA, and BMJ, in the form of authors and co-authors.
