Prof. Brett W. Carter, MD completed residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, serving as chief resident, and subsequently completed fellowship in Cardiothoracic Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He currently serves as Director of Clinical Operations, Chief Patient Safety and Quality Officer, Director of Safety, Quality, and Value, and Clinical Co-Director of the Quantitative Imaging Analysis Core in Diagnostic Imaging at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Thoracic Imaging. Dr. Carter is the author/co-author of over 140 publications, editor of four books, serves as principal investigator/co-investigator on over 70 research protocols and has given over 80 lectures at national and international conferences. Dr. Carter is a member of 10 editorial review boards for scholarly journals, and currently serves as the Cardiothoracic Imaging Section Editor for the American Journal of Roentgenology and Deputy Editor of Academic Radiology. He has been the recipient of the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) Young Investigator Award, RSNA Honored Educator Award, and numerous reviewer awards, the President’s Recognition for Faculty Excellence Award at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and was selected for the Melvin M. Figley Fellowship in Radiology Journalism by the American Roentgen Ray Society. Dr. Carter actively serves on committees for numerous professional societies, and has chaired multiple for the Society of Thoracic Radiology, the American College of Radiology, the Association of University Radiologists, and the International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group.
