Dr. Duncan Whitwell
BMedSci BMBS FRCS (Lon) FRCS (Orth)


Dr. Whitwell is a lead surgeon in the hip and knee unit at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford, specializing in routine and complex hip and knee reconstructive arthroplasty. He undertakes approximately 300 joint replacements a year including revision procedures. He works within the Bone Infection Unit, treating patients with infected hip and knee prostheses. 

Mr. Whitwell is also a Consultant Orthopaedic Oncologist at the Oxford Sarcoma Service and has been Chair of the Sarcoma Tumour Group (TSSG) since 2007. Within oncology, he further sub-specialized in the treatment of sacro-pelvic tumors. His experience in complex hip revision has complimented and allowed development of novel reconstructive procedures in this area.

In 2012, he was selected to represent the British Orthopaedic Association on the historical and prestigious ABC fellowship tour of premier orthopedic departments in the US.
