Dr. Hesham Mohamed Korashy,
Professor of Pharmaceutical sciences, Qatar University, Qatar
Dr. Korashy is a Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the College of Pharmacy, Qatar University. He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada) and a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from King Saud University (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). Currently, He serves as the Chair of the Institutional Committee for Animal Care and Use (QU-IACUC) and Chair of the Academic Promotion Committee (QU-APC). Dr. Korashy has a well-established reputation for research in molecular oncology of cancer stem cells and environmental toxicology at the regional and global levels. His main research interests focus on understanding the role and function of aryl hydrocarbon receptor transcription factor and cytochrome P450 1A1 and 1B1 in cancer stem cell development, self-renewal, and progression aiming at designing novel chemoprotective strategies. He is also interested in studying the impact of exposure to air pollutants and environmental toxins on disease development. Dr. Korashy has published more than 95 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact index journals, such as Molecular Cancer (IF=44.4), and Seminars in Cancer Biology (IF=17). In addition, he has supervised more than 20 MSc and PhD theses in pharmacology and toxicology.
