Dr Salahddin Gehani MBBCh MSc FRCS FACS

Dr Salahddin Gehani is currently a senior consultant surgeon and Assistant Professor of Surgery Weill Cornel School of Medicine –Qatar, and Chair of Residency Review Committee at ACGME- International-Chicago.

 

He Graduated from Faculty of Medicine, Tripoli –Libya , he had his initial surgical training in Tripoli teaching hospitals and subsequently pursued further surgical training in UK , he obtained the Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons.  He continued higher surgical training in general and breast surgery at major London teaching hospitals in. He was appointed as consultant general and breast surgeon at Hamad Medical Corporation and with colleagues developed the breast surgery services, introduced a number of techniques such as Sentinel Node biopsy and breast reconstruction, and was instrumental in starting the National Breast screening program.

His research projects in pursuance of MSc degree at the University College London, his first bench mark research was entitled, Hepatic Microcirculation using laser Doppler Flowmetry and subsequently looked at  the relationship between Tumor Angiogenesis and bone metastasis in Breast cancer patients.

He currently actively involved in a number of research projects in collaboration with Qatar Biology Research Institute, and Weil Cornell Medical College.
