Dr Emad Abdalla

Emad Abdalla is a Physiotherapy Specialist and Certified Lymphedema Therapist at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research (NCCCR) in Doha, Qatar. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from Cairo University (2005) and a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Utica University, USA (2022).

With over 12 years of experience, Dr. Abdalla has focused his clinical practice on oncology, hematology, and lymphedema rehabilitation. He received his initial lymphedema certification in 2012 and completed advanced training in 2016 through the Klose Training Center at the Foeldi Clinic in Germany. In 2017, he earned the Certified Edema Specialist (CES) designation from the APTA Oncology Section, and in 2019, he became a LANA®-certified lymphedema therapist.

Committed to raising awareness and improving care for lymphedema patients, Dr. Abdalla has delivered numerous lectures, workshops, and conference presentations both nationally and internationally. Notably, he presented on the establishment and impact of Qatar’s first dedicated lymphedema clinic at the 8th International Lymphedema Framework Conference in Rotterdam (2018). He was awarded the Grand Prize for Poster Presentation at the 2nd Doha Heidelberg Research Conference (2019) for his work on a model of care for post-operative breast cancer-related lymphedema and functional impairments in Qatar. He also led a workshop titled “Untangling Axillary Web Syndrome” at the 2019 National Lymphedema Network Conference in Boston.

Dr. Abdalla is a corresponding author of a published article in the Rehabilitation Oncology Journal titled “Physiotherapy Management Response for Lymphedema Patients Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic in the State of Qatar: A Perspective Study.” He currently serves on the National Lymphedema Network Medical Advisory Committee, contributing to guidelines on screening and managing breast cancer-related and oncology-related lymphedema.
