Dr. Asma Mohamed Elhassan is a senior consultant in medical oncology at the National Center for Cancer Care & Research. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Khartoum University, Sudan. She was trained in the field of oncology both in Sudan and Sweden. She obtained the Swedish Board in Clinical Oncology certificate from the Swedish Board of Health and Welfare, Sweden, and Master of Medical Science in the field of oncology, from Lund university, Sweden.
She worked as consultant in the National Center of Cancer (formerly Radioisotope and Radiation Center, RICK) Khartoum, Sudan. She was also involved in teaching medical students, post-graduate students for the Sudanese MD, and students in the Institute of Medical Radiological Sciences, Khartoum, Sudan.
Dr. Asma joined the department of oncology/hematology in HMC in 1998 and since then was actively involved in the department activities including teaching residents for the Arab Board, training fellows for the medical oncology specialty, heavily involved in breast and ovarian cancer awareness in Qatar and Sudan.
Currently she is the head of the rare cancers subspeciality (sarcoma, Neuro/oncology, and derma/oncology), core member of gyne/oncology MDT, and a member of ASCO and ESMO.
She has several publications in well-recognized medical journals.
