Dr Ashraf Awad
Dr. Ashraf Awad is a medical oncologist. Since 2007, he has been working in the Department of Oncology at the National Centre for Cancer Care and Research, Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar. He was born in Sudan. In June 1996, he was graduated from the Donetsk State Medical University in Ukraine.
Dr. Ashraf had a four-year training in general oncology and surgical oncology in the Department of Oncology of The Kyiv Medical Academy for Postgraduate Education.
He worked as an oncology specialist in the unit of breast tumors in the National Cancer Institute in Kyiv from October 2001 up to May 2006. He was involved in scientific researches and clinical trials concerning the use of preoperative cryodestruction in combined treatment of breast cancer. He contributed in development of anticancer autovaccine in bases of cryoassociated peptides derivate from the frozen breast tumor tissues.
In June 2006, Dr. Ashraf obtained the PhD in Oncology from the Kavetski Institute for Experimental pathology, oncology and radiobiology, the Ukraine Academy of Science. His doctoral degree thesis was "The application of cryodestruction and cryoassociated peptides in combined treatment of patients with the breast cancer ".
Currently, he is the leading medical oncologist in the Dermato-oncology and Neuro-oncology MDTs. He is also a member in the breast MDT.
His main research interests are advanced breast cancer, CNS and other rare tumors, antitumor vaccines, and cancer immunology. He has contributed to over 17 publications as first or last author, as well as two registered patents.
Dr Ashraf is an ESMO certified oncologist. He is a member of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) since 2005, and was serving as the ESMO regional representative in the Middle East from 2009 up to 2015.
