Technological Track

Dear colleagues,
  • Do you have an idea for a new device or a software application that will improve surgical care?
  • Do you have an innovative technology based solution that would revolutionize perioperative services?
If yes, then we are delighted to invite you to submit your technology oriented idea to the "Technological Track” of the 9th Surgical Research & Innovation Ideas Symposium organized by HMC’s Department of Surgery and Medical Research Center. The symposium will be held on April 12-13, 2019 in Doha, Qatar.

On the day of the symposium, selected proposals/ideas will be presented in front of a multidisciplinary panel comprised of experts from different technical fields. Feedback will be provided to participants for bringing the idea into the clinical realm. The best presentation will be granted a valuable monetary prize.

Information to participants

The idea/proposal for the technological track should to be submitted as a PowerPoint presentation file via email to Georges Younes (gyounes@hamad.qa) by March 23, 2019. The template for the presentation is attached to this message. Participants must adhere to the following outline with a maximum of 10 slides (excluding references):
  1. Clinical Problem: Unmet Clinical Need (1 to 2 slides); Impact on Patient Care (1 slide); Existing Solutions (1 slide)
  2. Proposed Solution: The Idea (1 to 2  slides); Related Works (1 slide); Key Advantages (1 slide); Implementation Plan (1 to 2 slides)
Selected participants will be notified via email by April 1, 2019 and will be required to present on the days of the symposium, April 12-13, 2019.

Important dates

Idea/proposal submission deadline: March 23, 2019
Acceptance notification for selected proposals/ideas: April 1, 2019
Technological track presentations at the symposium: April 12-13, 2019
