Dr. Mohamed A. Ali Kurer 
MBB Ch, FRCS, MSc, FRCS (Gen)
Senior Consultant, Colorectal and General Surgeon at HMC.

Dr. Ali Kurer graduated from Alfateh Medical University of Tripoli Libya in 1990 and trained in General and Colorectal Surgery in the UK with subspecialist colorectal training in the John Goligher Colorectal Surgery Unit of Leeds General Infirmary. He completed the basic surgical training rotation and research fellowship and higher surgical training leading to the award of CCT. Dr. Ali Kurer obtained a MSc in surgery from the Imperial College School of Medicine of London University, and a degree in Medical Education from Leeds University. He also obtained the FRCS (Gen) with colorectal accreditation from the Intercollegiate Board of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons, UK. 

Dr. Ali Kurer practiced as a substantive Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon in UK before joining HMC in June 2013. His clinical interests include general surgery with coloproctology subspecialty, and minimally invasive colorectal surgery, including trans-anal approach; gastrointestinal oncology, inflammatory bowel disease and GI endoscopy. His research interests also include molecular biology of colorectal cancer invasion, surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease and management of colonic diverticular disease, with many peer-reviewed publications pertinent to those facets of clinical practice. 

Dr. Ali Kurer continues to be an invited editor for the Libyan Journal of Medicine (LJM), and reviewer for the British Medical Journal (BMJ), Surg Laparosc Endosc Percutan Tech (SLEPT) and The World journal of Emergency Surgery.
