Nursing Orientation Programs

Orientation is a program of activities designed to ensure safe, quality patient care by familiarizing new nursing staff with the work environment, including standards of practice, rules, regulations and policies.

The Department of Nursing Education and Research strives to provide orientations which:
  • are comprehensive, tailored and effective in assisting nurses to meet their role expectations, regardless of their designated position
  • encourage new nurses to feel welcome, safe, valued and enhance the satisfaction and transition of new employees
  • evolve to match the changing healthcare context and be combined with access to on-going support to meet individual learning needs.
